Nilaiyana Studios Pvt Ltd, founded in 2021, was born during the COVID pandemic as a response to the massive loss of livelihood experienced by women especially in the informal sector. As many families lost their sole breadwinners, there was a clear need for women to transition into this role.

 

The team of Sweta Mathur and Shreyee Mathur decided to combine their skills in designing, manufacturing and social development to create an all women's enterprise and provide them with an opportunity to establish a career in textile and apparel manufacturing.

At  Nilaiyana Studios we believe in creating a goodwill chain between the creators and the consumers; that means working closely and ethically with our family of  dyers, weavers and tailors thereby ensuring a fair living wage to everyone in our design family. We are conscious of the social, economical, environmental and sustainable impact we create which translates into our design sensibility.

Assembly line construction forgets the rich complexity of textile and tailoring. Each Nilaiyana Studios artisan constructs a garment from start to finish. Allowing the artisans to take extra time and care to focus on tailoring nuances. " We at Nilaiyana Studios hope that you enjoy wearing our labor of love as much as we enjoyed making them".
